Please Be Kind, Rewind
Can you feel it in the air? I don’t if I’m feeling it per say, but it does seem like there’s a change going on. Whether it’s the election results that Biden won unless the recount says otherwise, or the shinning of the sun in November(Still fucking weird) or otherwise; You can’t deny that you feel it.
With that said, this year or the past few years have shown us that we need to be better than we were yesterday. Not surprisingly, we’re also still have sticks up our own asses thinking we’re better than most because of who we decided to vote, being at a different point in our lives, maybe even thinking this day is their, ours, yours, or mine.
A day is both what we think is in our control and what isn’t. Sometimes we forget that we are in control of our own actions. That could be from what you said to a person, to what you did to them or better yet how you react to what’s been done to you.
I get it we’ve been under the thumb of racism, bigotry, narcissism, selfishness in the worst way possible. WE can’t keep blaming each other, if we don’t start blaming ourselves besides we’re only human right?
Over the years being a College student at Eastern, being a part of my fraternity and being someone better than I was yesterday….I can say this we can’t do it alone, not anymore. We can’t rely on a single person to do all of the work, we also can’t stand aside watching one person.
This is a year for growth for a lot of us personally me included, but we more so need a growth in community, family, and what it means to be kind to one another regardless or race, political parties, who/what votes for who and whatever the fuck. We need to care about starting anew and putting in the work to make that change happen. No one likes repeating themselves, but even more don’t like those who don’t want to make that change happen because of the hard work.
Life is hard work, doesn’t matter where you’ve come from just as long as you can still do your best to work. Just know the difference between work you can do by yourself and the work you can do with others. Just please be kind, rewind.
